Dear nature lover

Have you experienced drought or flooding at close quarters or do you have (lived) knowledge about ways of water management, then Natuurpunt’s Natuuracademie wants to warm you up for Voices from the Drought, a unique artistic participation project that aims to visualize alternative forms of sustainable water management.

During this series of workshops along the river Dijle, newcomers with experience in the field of drought and flooding are invited together with local environmentalists to explore and visualize various perspectives on water management. The sympathetic designer Annelys de Vet, internationally known for Subjective Atlases, will provide an artistic framework and creative sessions.

  • WORKSHOP I 'Water glossary and water structures' (Doode Bemde - Sat 1 June)
  • WORKSHOP II 'Representing using watercolor and nature collage' (Vlierbeek Abbey - Mon 10 June OR Sweet Water - Fri 21 June OR Wijgmaalbroek - Sat 29 June)
  • WORKSHOP III 'Presentation and video reportage' (Wijgmaalbroek - Sat 28 Sept)

The result will be shared with a wide audience through a traveling exhibition, publication and digital media. Actively disseminating these "visual voices" is an integral part of the project, with the goal of contributing to a more culturally inclusive and visually rich discourse on climate change and nature conservation!

The setup is revealed here. Are you interested in contributing visually (artistic talent is not necessary) to this unique project? Visit www.natuurpunt.be/stemmenuitdedroogte for more info or sign up directly through this link. Places are limited and participation in the three consecutive workshops is expected (and compensated).

See you there!
