LAN Gaming Event

Practicalities

• Overview: We will be setting up the network infrastructure needed for conducting a local area multiplayer game. This constitutes hardware such as switches, ethernet cables as well as software part of the network setup on individual PCs. I will also make sure game installations are set up properly. Depending on the number of participants, we will also organize 1 on 1 matches as well as free-for-all arena marches with breaks in between.
• Who is the event for? This event is for anyone looking to spend some fun time playing games and socializing while doing it. Whether you are an experienced fragger with eagle eyes, a noob who likes hiding in the corners, or even just a spectator coming for drinks and getting some laughs, this will be a guaranteed fun opportunity to get to know new people and expand your social network while playing your favorite games.
• What can you expect? You will be welcomed in IHL in a room where we have set up the network ready to start playing games. There will be an honesty bar for those interested in getting drinks in between or during playing games. I will be organizing some game sessions and mini tournaments but there are no restrictions on how to have fun and socialize! Therefore expect flexibility.
• What should people bring? 1. A laptop with (preferably) Windows operating system installed with enough space for possible game installations. 2. An ethernet cable of about at least 2 meters. I will be trying to bring ethernet cables myself but it would be better if participants also had one with them just in case.
• How long do you plan on playing? 3 hours (more or less depending on the situation)
• Last but not least.. This event is intended to bring people together from different cultures for a fun and friendly gaming activity. FPS (first-person shooter) games such as counter-strike, quake, left4dead, and similar ones are planned to be played but more to be incorporated into the horizon. Having said that, I am entertaining the idea of making this into a bigger competitive tournament event for those enthusiasts in competitive EA sports in the distant future.
• About the host: My name is Amin Soltani, I have been working and living in Leuven since Jan 2023. I started playing games ever since I remember. The first ones on floppy disks ran on Commodore64 up until my college dorm days in London where I engaged more with fps games such as Quake 3 Arena and Unreal Tournament. I enjoyed playing and back then was promoted to a clan leader position within my gaming community. I don't have a badge, but it meant, and still means a lot to me. Live long in prosper, rAge my old clan! I like meeting new people, casual drinks, and social gatherings. It is for this reason, with the right operational management, that I believe this event will accomplish a lot in the domains of socializing, gaming, meeting new people, and most of all fun! Looking forward to seeing you all there for the grand opening.
