Interwoven: A Dialogue on Death, Culture, and Cloth

Practicalities

You are warmly invited to join an evening of exploring the role of fabric in funerals around the world. This is a moment to connect around the ways different cultures grieve and a chance to share and listen to others’ stories. Inspired by Leuven’s Folded Memory project, this workshop offers a space for intercultural connection around how we approach grief, loss, and seek solace.

What will the event look like?

  • Opening ritual using fabrics as a shared starting point
  • Stories and examples of funeral rites from different cultures
  • Small‑group conversations to exchange experiences and perspectives
  • Collective reflection to weave together what emerged
  • Closing ritual to honor the space we created
