Start to Run - 7 km
International House Leuven is planning to start a second edition of the start to run and now we have set our goal to reach 7 KM by the end of January!
Who can join? Everybody who can run 1km or more.
When / where? Mondays and Thursdays 19.00h @ the stairs of the Sportkot - Nearby The Spuye (https://despuye.com, Tervuursevest 101, 3001 Leuven - @ Universitair Sportcentrum KU Leuven)
Save the dates:
- 23rd Oct: free info session + 1 km test run (let us know you are coming via MeetUp please)
- 29th Oct at noon: deadline to register + pay for the full program here
- 30th Oct: running shoes on! Week 1, day1 (participation on this day requires having paid)
- afterwards twice a week, third run on your own
No running activity during week of 25th of Dec and week of 1st of Jan. The end of the program is foreseen the last week of Januray.
Optional for the willing and able, end the year with a sportive bang! Guy suggested to enroll for the 4km run during the end-of -year Corrida. This is a festive run which traditionally takes place in the historic center of Leuven on the last Sunday of December so the 31st this year! Guy will tell you more when the times comes.
What does it cost? For the info session and test run, it cost you only the motivation to come over, because this one is for free. If you want to continue (which we hope)– we ask you a contribution of 30 Euro for the Start-to-Run program, which has to be paid at the latest on Sunday 29 October at noon.

Important note! We need at least 15 participants. In case we will not reach the required number of participants by October 29nd, anybody who already registered and paid will be reimbursed in full!

Who is the coach? Meet Guy Mertens, wearing the yellow jacket in the left of the cover photo! Guy is a graduated trainer from the Flemish running federation and used to be part of DCLA (a local athletic club). For several years he successfully coached “Start to Run” programs with a lot of enthusiasm. He runs 3-4 times per week, tours between 10-15km. He is also the ‘godfather’ of an informal WhatsApp running group.
PLEASE NOTE: If you sustain an injury during the running session, you are responsible for the follow-up of those injuries based on your own insurance, there is no insurance included. Guy will happily recommend a supplemented sport's insurance if you need one.
