Let's talk about burnout

This 90 minute meetup is for anyone interested in burnout, whether suffering from it, recovering from it or starting to feel some of its symptoms.

Burnout can be quite a troubling and isolating experience. Being unable to cope and enjoy what used to be your daily activities, feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, numb, unusually anxious are some of the many different symptoms of burnout. Although there are some similarities, each individual can experience burnout differently and recover from it can take many forms.

This 90 minute session is for anyone interested in burnout, whether suffering from it, recovering from it or starting to feel some of its symptoms. It does not intend to provide any medical advice or support from a health professional, but rather provides a respectful, safe and non-judgmental place where participants can share their experience and struggles with burnout, stress and/or anxiety.

The session will be facilitated by an expat based in Leuven, who recently experienced burnout and is still in the recovery process.

The session will start with some simple mindfulness practices to help us “be” in the room. The group will then agree on some ground rules such as confidentiality, respect before starting the discussion, etc.

You will have the opportunity to share your experiences and hear from other group members. Through sharing and listening, we will learn more about how others cope with their problems as well as offer and receive encouragement. Hearing from others facing similar challenges and getting things off your chest can help ease your emotional burden and feelings of isolation. You are not alone.

This is a free meetup hosted by an International House volunteer, so please be respectful your registration (learn about why this event is free here). We welcome internationals and expats alike to join all of our events! The group size will be limited to 10 people (excluding the hosts).

You will also receive Information on how and where to find professional help in Belgium and Leuven.

Register via Eventbrite or Meetup, spaces are limited!
