If you’ve heard about the benefits of meditation but have no idea where to begin or meditated before and want to re-learn the basics, then this workshop is for you.
The aim of this interactive workshop is to provide a foundation for starting a meditation practice. Everyone is welcome, no experience or knowledge of meditation is required.
Through simple guided exercises you will learn awareness of breath and breath control. This is the starting point for a meditation practice.
*If the weather is nice:
We will meet outside of the International House Leuven at 18:30 and then take a meditative walk to a small park (https://goo.gl/maps/Fwk5kVdo3UnoNJNMA) where we will continue with the meditation.
If it is raining or otherwise not suitable for meditating outside, we will be inside the International House of Leuven. We will meet 18:30 either way.
What to bring:
· water! (if nice weather, if we're inside there is water and drinks)
· wear loose-fitting clothing
(breathing exercising may be uncomfortable in tight-fitting clothing)
· A yoga mat or towel as we will be meeting outside :)
About our volunteer: This workshop is hosted by one of our volunteers, Julie Wedam, who is excited to share her knowledge from 4 years of meditation practice with many different techniques.
As someone who is neurodivergent (ADHD) and has worked through various mental health struggles, Julie has developed a regular meditation practice to help her manage stress and live more intentionally. She is not a mental health professional or professional meditation teacher.
Julie looks forward to welcoming you to the International House Leuven for Intro to Meditation.
