Meditation for Beginners
NEW DATE: If you’ve heard about the benefits of meditation but have no idea where to begin or meditated before and want to re-learn the basics, then this event is for you.
Everyone is welcome to this interactive workshop, no experience or knowledge of meditation is required.
A message from the host: This session will focus on how mindfulness relates to emotional intelligence and how to apply and integrate it into your daily life.
We will be working with various techniques which help us move through emotions such as sadness, anger and experiences such as grief.
My aim is to create a safe space where everyone who wants to can share their experiences with the group, no one is obligated to share.
Since this session will deal specifically with some triggering topics such as grief and addiction, I would like you to take care of yourself first and ask yourself if you have the emotional space for this session.
If you don't, please practice mindfulness by listening to your needs.
We will meet inside the International House Leuven at 18:30, regardless of weather.
What to bring:
· wear loose-fitting clothing
(breathing exercising may be uncomfortable in tight-fitting clothing)
· A yoga mat, towel, or blanket
About our volunteer: This workshop is hosted by one of our volunteers, Julie Wedam, who is excited to share her knowledge from 4 years of meditation practice with many different techniques.
As someone who is neurodivergent (ADHD) and has worked through various mental health struggles, Julie has developed a regular meditation practice to help her manage stress and live more intentionally. She is not a mental health professional or professional meditation teacher.
Julie looks forward to welcoming you to the International House Leuven for this session of Meditation for Beginners. :)
