Info session Belgian nationality
Are you considering applying for Belgian nationality? Would you like to know the conditions for applying and learn more about the steps to take? Then this information session is for you.
After having lived and/or worked in Belgium for a number of years you may be thinking of (one day) applying for Belgian nationality. But how does this process work? And who qualifies? What needs to be done? Which documents do you need to collect? How long does it take? Where do you go to start the application?
Our speaker is Steve Heylen, head of department of the civil affairs section of Stad Leuven. During this 90 minutes in-person information session he'll cover two specific parts of the nationality law namely the declaration of nationality for:
- non-Belgians with a minium of 5 years legal residence in Belgium and who can demonstrate integration
- non-Belgians who are legal residents in Belgium for at least 10 years
Other categories and procedures will be touched upon very briefly but not discussed in detail. After the presentation there will be time for a general Q&A. To keep the session interesting for all participants, individual cases and follow-up of ongoing procedures will not be handled during the session.
The presentation and Q&A will be in English and participation is free of charge*. For practical reasons we kindly ask that you register in advance, via Eventbrite (external link). The session will be held at the International House and the number of places is therefore limited.
*We strive to offer events that are free to the public (both internationals and locals) with help from our founding sponsors but also our volunteers who invest their time, ideas, and knowledge into many of our workshops and events. Because of this, we ask participants to respect not only their registration to events, but also the starting hour.
