Guided Walk: Coffee, Colleges, & Cloisters

Join Harold, a local international and history buff, for a walk through 17th century Leuven.

Leuven is not known for its historical sites, unlike Bruges or Ghent. But with the oldest Catholic university in the world and the former capital of the Duchy of Brabant, Leuven has so much to explore, if you’d only scratch under the surface.

Join Harold Tor, who runs a Project Oud Leuven, on a two-hour guided walk through the old city of Leuven. The walk will bring you through monasteries that have disappeared, streets and waterways that used to exist, and university colleges lost to time. Most importantly, the walk will acquaint you with tales of the untold history of Leuven: Refugee nuns from England, a not-so-secret training camp for British priests to overthrow the Anglican Church, a fanatical college director, and the richest and most powerful monastery in the Low Countries for being a powerhouse of the crusades.

The walk will start at Madmum on the Tiensestraat, where you can grab a drink if you'd like.

The total number of participants is limited to 15 in order to keep the pace manageable for everyone.
